In case you haven’t seen sweat-filled Instagram videos of the LABL community working out to heavy beats with some of the best fitness instructors in the 757, let us introduce you to LABL Moves: Sweat + Sculpt. LABL founder Lindsay Bangel began this movement event series highlighting local fitness gurus in celebration of our ability to move together, healthier and stronger as a collective! Chris Stover kicked off LABL Moves with a killer cardio dance class followed by Jenna Epperly’s High Intensity Interval Training bootcamp featuring body-weight and booty band burn-out exercises.
Pilates, you’re up next! Our March 14th event at 9 AM, LABL Moves: Pilates will be led by Stott Pilates certified instructor at Pilates-4-Virgina Beach, Margaret Nark. Get to know your instructor before you work it out on the mat.
LABL: What made you want to start your business?
Margaret: I had been working as a Financial Analyst for over 20 years as a government contractor and knew I needed a change. Teaching fitness classes had always been my passion so I took the chance and I haven’t looked back.
LABL: What brought you to Virginia Beach/this area?
Margaret: My father came here after he joined the Navy and my mother followed friends here to teach in Virginia Beach. I was born at Virginia Beach General and I only left the area to attend UVA.
LABL: What does a typical day look like for you between clients, classes, etc.?
Margaret: I typically teach classes between 6:30am and 3:00pm. I try to get in one movement class (Barre, Mat Pilates or TRX) each day in between training private clients.
LABL: What other types of physical activities do you do/how do you crosstrain?
Margaret: I try each day to get on the Pilates equipment, work on the TRX Suspension System or take a walk to cross train. I also teach Silver Sneakers classes at Bayside Recreation Center for my young clients that are 65 years and older. They are an amazing group!
LABL: What’s your favorite brand to wear when working out?
Margaret: I really like Terez. The items I have from them are so soft!
LABL: What's your favorite pilates move?
Margaret: The Snake on the Reformer
LABL: What's your favorite energizing snack?
Margaret: I am not sure you would call it a snack but the Volcanic Roast from Bad Ass Coffee with heavy cream steamed. It is great after a long day of teaching!
LABL: What are your go-to spots in Virginia Beach?
Margaret: Bad Ass Coffee and Famous Uncle Al’s on Shore Drive (I know it is a hot dog joint but we love seeing Al every Saturday).
LABL: What's the most rewarding part of your job?
Margaret: Seeing not only the physical changes in clients but the mental changes as well.
LABL: What's one question you're always asked as a fitness instructor?
Margaret: Is teaching as much fun and rewarding as it appears? - Yes!
LABL: Where can our LABL community find you? (Website link, Instagram link, Facebook link, Do you offer classes on ClassPass, etc.)
Margaret: Pilates-4.com, @MargaretNarkPilates, you can also find Pilates-4-VB classes on ClassPass!
